Professor Dr. Sufian Abdul Rahman Tayeh (1971–2023) was a prominent Palestinian academic and visionary physicist, a distinguished researcher in physical philosophy and applied mathematics, and a pioneer in developing sensors for cellular and molecular research. He served as President of the Islamic University of Gaza. He held the UNESCO Chair in Physics, Astrophysics, and Space Sciences in Palestine and was ranked among the top 2% of researchers worldwide.

Dr. Sufian Tayeh and his family were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Al-Faluja area, west of the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
